Mysa

Smart thermostats, refined.

Mysa is a Canadian smart thermostat company based in St. John’s, Newfoundland. They built their reputation on smart thermostats for North American homes and expanded into the smart aircon controller market with the Mysa Smart AC, bringing their thermostat design expertise to split-system aircon control.

What Mysa does well

  • Physical LED display. This is Mysa’s standout feature. The device has a built-in LED display that shows the current temperature and your set point. You can glance at it from across the room without opening an app or reaching for a remote. No other smart aircon controller in this price range offers this.
  • Clean app. The Mysa app is well-designed and straightforward. It covers the basics well — scheduling, temperature control, and usage reporting — without unnecessary complexity.
  • No subscriptions. All features are included with the device. No premium tier, no monthly fees.

Things to know

  • Standalone by design. The Mysa Smart AC is a self-contained product — no accessories, no hub, no ecosystem to manage. This is a downside if you want sensor-based automations, but an upside if you prefer a simple, focused product that doesn’t ask you to buy into a broader platform.
  • No Matter or Thread. Mysa doesn’t support Matter or Thread, the emerging universal smart home standards. This limits cross-platform compatibility compared to controllers that do.
  • 2.4GHz WiFi only. Like most smart home devices, the Mysa connects via 2.4GHz WiFi. Most routers handle this fine, but combined-band routers may require a quick settings adjustment during setup.
  • No HomeKit yet. Mysa has announced HomeKit support as “coming soon,” but it’s not available yet. It currently works with Google Home and Alexa.
